This course manual is developed primarily from the principles presented in Dale Carnegie's The Art of Public Speaking. Carnegie's emphasis on audience awareness, clear organization, confidence, and natural delivery provides the pedagogical foundation throughout the course. These principles are complemented by topics that are relevant to English language teacher education, including informative and persuasive speaking, rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, and logos), the use of supporting evidence, audience interaction, and impromptu speaking.
